Our Belief System & The Ways We Hold Ourselves Back
Limiting beliefs. You and I and everyone else have them to some degree but we’re often not consciously aware of them. As a result, we’re hamstrung in our search for happy, meaningful lives free of trauma, self-doubt and self-sabotage. The following limiting beliefs checklist can be eye opening. I often use this with clients to quantify the impacts my therapies have had during a session.
Go down the list and without overthinking it, give a number from 0-10 as to how true it feels, rather than how true you think it is. The 1st number that comes to mind is usually the most accurate. Recording how true each statement feels is a lovely simple way to recognize some of the subconscious programming holding us back. Knowledge is power. Becoming aware of what’s running in the background of our mental processes is a powerful first step towards freedom from limiting beliefs, emotional distress and self sabotage. Getting what we truly want in life is so much easier without the emergency brake on.
