Christmas Cookie Recipes
Some of our Staff favourite holiday cookies!
Shortbread
Ingredients
- 1/2 cup corn starch
- 1/2 cup icing sugar
- 1 cup flour
- 1/2 cup butter, softened
- 1/4 cup margarine
- bottle of maraschino cherries
Directions
- Pour maraschino cherries on paper towel to dry
- Stir together dry ingredients
- Blend in butter and margarine
- Knead together until smooth
- Shape into 1′ balls, press thumb in middle of ball, place in cherry and form 1″ ball around the cherry
- Bake at 300 for 20 minutes
Sugar Cookies
Ingredients
- 1 teaspoon baking soda
Directions
- Stir together flour, baking soda, and baking powder. Set aside.
- In another bowl, cream together the butter and sugar until smooth. Beat in egg and vanilla. Gradually blend in the dry ingredients.
- Roll out dough, use cookie cutter of your choice
- Bake at 375 for 8-10 minutes
Chocolate Gingerbread cookies
Ingredients
- 1/2 cup butter, softened
- 1/2 cup brown sugar
- 1 1/2 teaspoons ground ginger
- 3/4 teaspoon ground cinnamon
- 1/4 teaspoon ground black pepper
- 1/4 teaspoon ground cloves
- 1/4 teaspoon ground nutmeg
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
- 1/2 cup molasses
- 1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
- 2 tablespoons cocoa
- 1 cup chocolate chips
- 1/4 cup white granulated sugar, for on top of cookies
Directions
- Cream together the butter, brown sugar, and spices
- Add the molasses
- Add the flour and cocoa
- Add the chocolate chips and mix until they are evenly distributed in the dough
- Either roll out dough and use cookie cutters or form dough into balls and flatten a little with fork
- Place cookies on baking tray and sprinkle each cookie with sugar on top
- Bake at 325 for 11-13 minutes
